MoveGoose (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your personal information. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and your rights under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

1. Who we are

MoveGoose is a UK property search portal operated as part of the Goose family of property products. Our primary contact for data matters is hello@movegoose.co.uk.

2. What data we collect

Visitors (no account required)

  • IP address and browser type (server logs, retained for up to 30 days)
  • Pages visited and search queries (used to improve search relevance)

Registered users (renters / buyers)

  • Email address (used for login and communication)
  • Saved searches and favourited properties
  • Enquiry messages sent to agents or landlords
  • Optional profile information (name, phone, pets, move date)

Agent / landlord accounts

  • Business name, contact email, phone number, and address
  • Property listing data submitted via BLM feed or manual upload
  • Enquiry messages received through the platform
  • Billing information (if applicable) — processed by a third-party payment provider

3. How we use your data

  • To provide the MoveGoose service — property search, listing display, enquiry routing
  • To send you enquiries, account notifications, and service updates
  • To improve search quality and the overall product
  • To comply with legal obligations (e.g. fraud prevention, tax records)

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising profiling.

4. Lawful basis

We process your data on the following bases under UK GDPR:

  • Contract — to provide the service you signed up for
  • Legitimate interests — to improve the platform, prevent abuse, and keep server logs
  • Legal obligation — where required by law

5. Data sharing

We share data only where necessary:

  • Agents / landlords — your name and email are shared when you submit an enquiry
  • Supabase — our database and authentication provider (data stored in the EU)
  • Resend — our email delivery provider
  • Hetzner — cloud infrastructure provider (EU data centres)

6. Cookies

We use only essential cookies required to keep you logged in and maintain session state. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.

7. Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active, plus up to 12 months after closure for legal and business record purposes. Listing data from agents is retained for the duration of the agency relationship.

8. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data (“right to be forgotten”)
  • Object to or restrict processing
  • Data portability

To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@movegoose.co.uk. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email to registered users. The “last updated” date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
